Violeta Gutierrez has thirteen years of professional experience in international trade, food safety, market access and agribusiness development. Before joining DTB, she worked as a consultant on these topics for the Organization of American States (OAS) in projects in Latin America and the Caribbean jointly with other international organizations and cooperation agencies. A native of Peru, she worked from 2001 to 2007 at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) Office in Lima, Peru, as marketing agricultural specialist where she focused on market promotion and access programs with U.S. agribusiness associations, government officials and other stakeholders in Peru and Bolivia. Violeta has authored more than 20 trade reports and has co-authored several projects and technical documents.
She obtained an MBA in international business and finance from the George Washington University in 2009. She previously studied a Master’s degree in Agribusiness (2001) and received a B.Sc. in food science engineering, both from the Universidad Agraria La Molina in Lima, Peru in 1998.
